Essi Karell is clothing designer, educator and junior researcher in the area of sustainable fashion. She is a member of Aalto University’s Fashion/Textile Futures research group that approaches research in the field of fashion, clothing and textiles in multi-faceted ways.
Essi has worked in the industry as a sportswear designer, but currently her interest lies in education and research. Since 2017, she has been teaching and conducting doctoral studies at Aalto University while working in multidisciplinary research projects linked to circular economy and textiles. At the moment, she finalises her doctoral thesis on how clothing designers could contribute to textile circularity.
